Hola groovers. I know, I know. Im a little behind the glee schedule, but with finals and finishing up sophomore year - got a little behind. But never fear, I'm back and ready to elaborate on everything that is GLEE. We start off with the DIVA filled episode of Madonna. What can I say? I'm a girl who loves her 80's and especially her Madonna. So naturally I had some high expectations. My excitement grew and grew from the previous week's Vogue video sneak peek to the release of the songs on itunes. It took all of my power not to use my last 6$ of my itunes gift card to purchase the Power of Madonna glee album as soon as i was available. (Between you and me, my gift card balance is now zero and my ipod has 8 more songs on it.) Anyways, the episode was an overall favorite of mine and proved that these kids can deliver song after song. We learned of Sue's obsession with the big M and the lengths she'll go to make sure people know it, including making her Cheerios date a younger man. Leave it to Brittany to step up and date a 7 year old. That girl is a smart one who evidently goes to a misogynist when she pulls her hamstring. Santana also took to the assignment by going after Finn's big V - but we'll talk about that later. IT WAS BATTLE OF THE SEXES. Girls were being mistreated and the guys had no idea why. This resulted in a powerful 'express yourself' filled with sass and a slow ballad of 'what is feels like for a girl' from the guys. In between the battling, sexual tension flared between Finn and Rachel while belting out a personal favorite of mine, borderline/open your heart. Speaking of sexual tension, glee got a little scandalous and frisky with some 'first time' experiences mixed in with singing and some dirty dancing in Like A Virgin. Alright ill admit it, I had to fan myself after watching that one because it felt like the room went up 10 degrees. All the drama combined with fantastic musical numbers, resulted in an awesome episode. Finished off with a new member to the club, Mr. Jesse St. James (who still rubs me the wrong way) and an amazing ending number that was my favorite of the episode. Those red shirts and black converse are becoming indicators of crowd pleasing numbers, I mean just look at Don't Stop Believin and Like a Prayer.

The next week we experienced a different Glee feel in the episode "Home." This episode received mixed views from fans and took a different approach from what were used to. I was happy to see a little more of Finn's milk throwing, jean jacket wearing mother. But as we all found out, she received a little bit of a makeover and the fashionable jean clothing is no more. Dammit. Personally, I enjoyed her back when she ordered the guy to come spray her yard green and sing journey while she sat stirring her drink with her finger in happiness. Kurt has gotten so 'excited' for Finn that he brings their parents together to help the cause. Turns out when you bring two widowed parents together, they'll actually love each other. Imagine that. Finn doesnt like this one bit, he prefers singing to his dad's urn? Well actually its cause he thinks Kurt's dad is gonna replace his own, but thats on a more serious level. Seriousness was a theme in this episode complete with well known songs. SIKE. I had never in my life heard the songs in this episode with the exception of one or two. That drunk hussy April Rhodes is back. Whose entrance included a confession of having will shuster sex dreams. I will not elaborate my opinion on this because of the male population who reads this blog... We soon find out shes as lost as every other character in this episode. Her intensity and peppy attitude shines on Broadway, but sometimes is hard to handle in the surroundings of Glee. Im not saying she shouldn't be a part of this musical and comedy wonderment, just sometimes I wonder if shes just pushed in there for the hell of it. I mean who doesn't want Kristin Chenowith to sing with them? My personal favorite part of the episode was when the hungry Mercedes started picturing her friends as food as a result of Sue's relentless talk of dieting. Mercedes got her groove back with a soulful rendition of (Pittsburgh native) Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' at a school assembly.

Okay, now I gotta say this next ep. 'Bad Reputation' is quickly climbing up my list of favorites. This episode was JAM PACKED with hilarious one-liners, new characters (cough cough molly shannon cough), Sue getting physical, and Emma calling Will a slut. Correct me if im wrong, but i think the combination of music, drama, and comedy in the episode turned out to be the perfect Glee combination. Sue's embarrassment of a home made video turned into a hilariously phenomenal YouTube video with Olivia Newton John - complete with 6 packs and tight buttocks. Although scandalous, it was quite entertaining and a highlight of the episode. Olivia's performance proved those 'summer nights' did her well. Along with this, members of New Directions were on the quest for a bad reputation courtesy of a Glist posted by Quinn. This resulted in showstopping dance and music numbers. Molly shannon was a great addition to the glee team and had me laughing from the start. Shes the one person who can live up to Sue's sting and comedic flair - i hope to see more of that taco kicking "porker" in future episodes. I gotta give the highlight of the episode to the intense ending number of 'Total Eclipse of the Heart.' Rachel and Jesse are a deadly combination that creates a chilling musical experience. The fact that the actors have worked together before, can only make this pair better and better. This performance took me back to the beginning of the season with Rachel's heartfelt 'Take a Bow.' My DVR did me well for this episode with lots of re-watching and rewinding of all the musical numbers.

Here's a few things I've been looking at:

-Comic Book Heroes Tribute-

I can't wait for Iron Man 2 coming out in May. A movie packed with action, thrills and chills I bet that this is going to be better than the first movie but it will be very, very hard to top. But I ask, why is Don Cheadle playing Jim Rhodes now? What happened to Terrence Howard? I mean no one is afraid of Don Cheadle, no one. EVERYONE is afraid of Terrence Howard. Did you see Hustle n' Flow? He's a straight hood boy who is perfect to work alongside Robert Downey Jr. Directors and producers should have re-evaluated these facts. I hope the movie doesn't suffer. If I may add, Robert Downey Jr. is very easy on the eyes in his BAMF persona in Iron Man. Don't fret I'll be sure to give my review May 7 for all groovers.




Speaking of sex symbols, why did Keri Hilson choose Kanye West as her love interest for the sultry single "Make Love". The song, off of her last cd "In a Perfect World", talked about how she wanted to..uhm..get home to her male companion who just so happened to be gentleman Yeezy. Who in their right mind sees 'Ye as a potential lover? The scruff-faced rapper and entertainer is far from my top list of hot boys that I would feature in a video. Who wants to go home and open the door to 'flashing lights' and those ridiculous window blind shades?




I want to also point out that Drake is the only person of the male persuasion who makes the duck lips face:

Ahoy Ahoy Groovers! (Alexander Graham Bell, don'tcha know?)

Long time reader, first time blogger. I am honored to be the newest member of the GA team. I gotta say - this opening post of mine is a little nerve racking but alas, I must push onward. My topic this week: HELL-O the highly anticipated mid-season premiere of that one show about the losers who sing? Oh, yeah GLEEEEEEE. Just joking with ya kids, you all know I live, breath, and dream this groovy show. It all started on that wednesday evening in the month of May 2009 after American Idol. As I sat and watched in amazement.. well, thats another story. Basically, its the night I fell in love and became a gleeK. Back to the important stuff, I have to say that the season comeback lived up to the hype. Lots of sue sylvester's spitful, yet comical, snipes at mr. shu along with some delightful and shocking surprises.

We opened with Rachel and Finn OFFICIALLY dating. Wow, I gotta say - this was something I think all us female gleeks were looking forward to, just maybe not this soon?? We soon found that there were troubles with Rachel being too high-maintenance. Now, if Rachel's high maintenance then I have red hair. Oh wait... Anyways, this situation leads into our first musical number of the episode - Hello, I love you. (Finn, hello. I love you and I WILL tell you my name.) After his rockstar moment causing some intense feelings of desire from ... kurt - he broke it off with that gold-star Rachel. Shocker. Rachel then starts to spontaneously sing/stare at/date a newcomer on the show - Jessie St. James. Hmmm. that name, just kinda rubs me the wrong way... well maybe its that moppy head of hair of his or the fact im just jealous I didn't see him in Spring Awakening or the way he can stare a woman down while making out with another one.

We were introduced to the beginnings of another relationship we were all waiting for - Shu and Emma. That pearly white harbor sneak attack of a kiss kept us wanting more. With her cute little sweaters and tiny suitcases filled with dental supplies in hand, we think this is a start of a very cute couple until we see that mr. shu is what the french call 'les incompetents.' Well, not really, just that he likes making out with Idina Menzel. I mean cmon, she played Mimi in RENT anddd Alphaba in Wicked. Pretty awesome, but - bad for the plot line.

Sue has been keeping busy since we've last seen her. Convinced Principle Figgins to give her job back by drugging him and using his body as a playground. Apparently whipped cream was involved.. oh and a little blow in the ear. (now that doesn't sound right) but ya know what i mean.. She delivered many of her hilarious one-liners including a favorite of mine: you two should be wetting yourselves with shame. Also, the use of the old maids club was a clever tactic on her part. And lemme tell you - the fact that the championship wrestler now stays at home making out with her cat and watching ghost whisperer is a scary thing to hear....

ONE WORD: Brittany. This girl is becoming a crowd favorite and I can see why. Not only is she cute as a button but she's dumb as a post. I first started paying attention to this girl about mid-way through the first half of the season when our own Zach Harr expressed his love for her. Her look of constant day-dreaming mixed with her ever so pleasing comments add a definite comedic flair to the show. And the fact that Sue puts so much of her "revenge tactics" in Brittany's hands is a hilarious aspect as well. Brittany and Santana's attempts at woo-ing Finn were about as productive as when Puck tried to dump Quinn for being too fat. I mean sometimes I forget my middle name but I never did know that dolphins were gay sharks.

To wrap things up, I sincerely hope Rachel and Finn patch things back up. Although I'm enjoying the role reversals of Finn chasing Rachel, it takes away from that "glee club flair" during musical numbers. Watching Rachel look like shes about to cry and running away from Finn during Hello, Goodbye prevented me from enjoying it as much as I wanted to. But, thats just me. Our extra Madonna music video was AMAZING. Sue's almost exact rendition of the original Vogue video was entertaining yet as always, classic Sue. My excitement for Tuesday's all Madonna episode is just growing and GROWING by the minute. I'm sure there will be plenty cone-shaped bras and blue eye shadow to satisfy us all. I hope you all tune in.

Opening Day 2010

Some people like to look at the Pittsburgh Pirates as the annoying little sister to the championship caliber Steelers and Penguins so for those people I have only two words, SUCK IT. Sure, they have had 17 straight losing seasons but that doesn't mean we should not support them, even though they have made some questionable moves in the past. But those moves were almost forced due to low funds and not being able keep up with financial competition from other teams bidding on players (Pirate-Haters: Do you feel good about picking on the poor?). Now that is all changing, the Buccos are under fairly new ownership and the prospects that were traded for are rising in the system as well as high profile draft pick Pedro Alvarez.

Opening Day is upon us and the Pirates are victorious in their first game, beating the LA Dodgers 11-5. It was an impressive day statistically for Garrett F. Jones, who homered twice in the first game of the year to aid the Pirates in victory. Of course with the 2010 season starting this also means that Pirate's Post Game on 104.7 hosted by Rocco DeMaro is starting as well. The show is broadcasted directly after the games and features callers from all around asking Rocco whatever is on their mind about the Pirates. Sometimes a Panera gift card is awarded to whoever asks the best question, and yes, I have won that card. The funny thing is I won it in May of 2009 and I haven't received it yet. Fellow author and twin brother of mine, Zach Harr, was with me when it happened. We were on our way to Greensburg after a game and we were listening to the show when I thought of a question concerning a pitching prospect, Brad Lincoln. So I called and the conversation went a little like this...

Rocco: "Ok now we're going to go to Jake in Delmont, Jake what's your question?"

Me: "Hey Rocco, long time listener first time caller love the show. Anyways I wanted to ask you about blah blah Brad Lincoln blah blah."

Rocco: "Great question blah blah you have won today's 25 dollar Panera gift card."

And that's where I messed up. In my high of excitement I accidentally hung up before I could give my information to the station so they could send me the card. It's like winning the Super Bowl/World Series/NBA Finals/Stanley Cup and not getting a ring, probably worse. I've sent him emails, called the station, and I am planning to write him a letter but he just wont give in, I suppose I'll just have to call in again and ask another Panera-worthy question.

Dishonorable Mention
Anthony Mongelluzzo did not like The Blind Side, this almost earned a dishonorable discharge.

Betty White

Recently I've seen a lot of Betty White's face on television and I cannot understand why. She had majorly contributed to award-winning comedy shows in the 80's but reading her comments on Sandra Bullock's marriage disaster or seeing her being referred to as "Red Hot Betty White" in current headlines has left me concerned. Now don't get me wrong, the way my mother and I bonded when I was younger was by watching re-runs of The Golden Girls on the Women's Channel and we had enjoyed it, but why now? Why has Mrs. White returned to TV Guides once again. I do appreciate a "sista" on her grind, I feel that the clock has struck 12 for the actress. I just imagine that a woman of her age should see days spent sitting by a warm, toasty fireplace with a quilt laid across her knees as she knits monogram wool sweaters for her grandchildren, not appearing in my "US Weekly" magazine. While I was surprised to see her in tabloids, I have grown to appreciate Betty White's efforts in the Snickers commercials.

Over Easter weekend my sister and I were exposed to,what I believe to be, one of the best movies released by Nickelodeon in a long time. Highly recommended.



Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging:



I went on a trip with my school to D.C. and we visited places like the State Department where we met Mrs. McCormick who was a represenative from the Bureau of Public Affairs. As she gave me many ideas for future careers within the government, she also sparked my interest in the marriage department. Mrs. McCromick infromed the group, very nonchalantly, that a few years ago she was drowning in the Red Sea and was rescued by an Arab man who saved her life. This man is now her husband. They now have a one-year-old son. He will be taught English and Arabic. Wow. My dream is to marry a non-U.S. citizen and I hope I have a wonderful story such as theirs to share with the world some day. Seeing that I don't know how to swim, it wouldn't be completely impossible to see my fate unfold like this. Therefore, this summer feel free to come save me men of the world, in what could be the only Red Sea that I will ever see in my lifetime.......Twin Lakes.

Well hello there

Sorry team, havent blogged in a file since "The Picture". But i just wanted to talk about a few things in my life that im enjoying, and also that im looking forward too. Lets start off with things in the present.

1) Its march and that means one amazing thing... March Madness. It doesnt matter your age, gender, or religion you filled out a bracket. If your like anyone else in the world your bracket was ruined in the first day so its okay. Rip it up and enjoy the games like i've been doing.

2) Every night before i go to sleep, i go on SPORCLE.COM and do some sports trivia. I've known about this site for several months due to fellow Pisone family member Phil Pisone. Theres trivia about everything from baseball, to cricket, to nascar to england soccer teams to name a few. Theres everything. Go on and enjoy. You'll like it.

Now some things coming in the future.

1) GLEE! April 13th the second season premiers on the way to sectionals. I am extremely excited for this and ive been waiting for a while. I just finished watching the first season on dvd that i bought for Siix. Great present for both of us dont you think?

2) Only two days after Glee premiers, its tax day, which means only one thing. Kelsye Milliron's birthday. Better yet, Jonnie Smiths, and Seanna Kelly. Put all of those celebrities behind you and its also my birthday. Nothing special. 19 years young but still a birthday is a birthday. I'd also like to shout out to some up coming birthdays in my calender. Jared (Rod) Miller March 28th, Fellow bloggers, JACK and ZACK Harr April 9th, my cousin who i doubt reads this, Brandon Woodward April 13th.

3)Runs house is currently airing and should be ending in a few months. Im hoping that it should be back on TV by august or september so i can enjoy watching Rev and Jojo. Im not too found of Russy in the past episodes because he was a little annoying but i feel like hes mature now and he'll be a good member of the cast.
